This plan will determine the curriculum focus based on data analysis for the 2018 school year.
St. Columba's is an inner city school catering for students in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. There are eleven classrooms, a library, music room and a support room. The school has the use of the Parish Hall with the kind permission of the Parish Priest.
The school draws its students mainly from the areas of South Perth, Victoria Park, Como and Kensington.
The socio-economic background of the students is generally middle/upper class.
The school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1908. Lessons were conducted in the Parish Hall. In 1915 the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart took over responsibility of St. Columba's School and remained until 1985 when the first lay Principal was appointed. Strong ties still remain between the school community and the sisters at the convent in York Street, South Perth.
St. Columba's currently has an enrolment of approximately 330 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Children are offered a wide variety of educational facilities. Specialist areas include Italian, Music and Physical Education in Years PP – 6 and Science from Yr 4-6.
